Current problems of religious studies

On April 16, 2024, a republican scientific and practical conference on the topic “Current problems of religious studies” was held at the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan.

Tashkent Islamic University, created by a decree of the Republic of Uzbekistan in 1999, was reorganized into the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan in 2018. Over the past 25 years, about 1000 bachelors, about 100 masters, dozens of doctoral students, independent researchers have been working on the development of the field of religious studies in the higher education system, in order to find solutions to the problems of today's pressing issues.

In order to further improve the teaching of the science of “Religious Studies” and discuss issues related to increasing the effectiveness of education it was organized the 16th republican scientific and practical conference on the topic “Current problems of religious studies”.

  At this traditional conference were attended by specialists of the Committee on Religious Affairs, the National Commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan for UNESCO, the Office of Muslims of Uzbekistan, the Institute of Oriental Studies of the UzRSA, the Academy of Law Enforcement Agencies of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Tashkent Institute of Islam, in addition, teachers, doctoral students and undergraduates of higher education institutions of our republic.

At the scientific and practical conference were presented such topics as, “Reforms in the religious and educational sphere in the new Uzbekistan”, “History of the creation of translations of the Holy Quran into the Uzbek language”, “History, present and future of higher religious education in Uzbekistan”, “History (Islamic history and source study)” field of education: achievements and problems”, “Modern trends in the education of science “Religious Studies””, “Issues of training in the field of religious and educational information technologies”, “Analysis of religious content intended for the Uzbek segment”, “State policy of Uzbekistan to ensure religious tolerance”.

In turn, various scientific articles submitted to the conference related to the field of social sciences, such as theology, Islamic studies, history, philosophy, psychology of religion, were included in the 16th collection of materials of this traditional conference. The collection includes about 100 articles written by professors, teachers, prominent scientists in the field of religious studies, as well as Islamic scholars, orientalists, source scholars teaching religious studies in higher and secondary specialized educational institutions of our republic, and by historians and young researchers, which express religious tolerance, harmony of national and religious values, the role of the scientific and spiritual heritage of our ancestors in our spiritual life.
