A beneficial source

At the International Academy of Islamic Studies of Uzbekistan, along with the creation of a multi-volume "Islam" encyclopedia, a one-volume condensed "Islam" encyclopedia was published.

It is well known that any encyclopedia is a reflection of its era and society, reflecting the values and traditions that prevail in the respective countries and regions. Of course, the "Islam" encyclopedia is not exempt from this rule. Furthermore, the "Islam" encyclopedia is a permanent, continuous process. Briefly, it has no end; it is a continuous project. The encyclopedia should serve as a teacher who regularly explains its new forms, including religious realities.

Taking into account the wishes of a large number of readers, this encyclopedia was enriched based on the results of scientific research conducted in the field of Islamic studies in recent years, and a new one-volume "Islam" encyclopedia was prepared for publication, revised in form and content by the members of the editorial board.

More than 80 domestic and foreign Islamic scholars and specialists participated in the preparation of this publication as authors, translators, and reviewers. Works by Arab, Turkish, Persian, and Russian authors were used.

The encyclopedia begins with a greeting from the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, to the readers of the "Islam" encyclopedia. It contains systematic articles in alphabetical order about Islamic enlightenment, history, pillars, laws and rules of Sharia and Tariqa, holy places and places of pilgrimage, famous mosques and madrasas, outstanding individuals who made a great contribution to the development of our religion, including companions and followers, muhaddiths, faqihs, commentators, mystics and saints, Quran and hadith reciters, famous scholars who lived in all Islamic lands and historical Uzbekistan area and their scientific heritage.

Information about individuals and valuable works whose scientific, creative, and spiritual-educational activities are unknown to the public has also been introduced into scientific circulation. The encyclopedia contains all (114) surahs of the Holy Quran. Approximately 30 percent of the encyclopedia's articles are dedicated to local events, phenomena, terms, and personalities, while the remaining 70 percent or more are dedicated to global ones. The book includes all Uzbek muftis, mufassirs, and world-renowned scholars. It contains 1,232 articles, 351 of which are biographical articles.

The main goal of creating the academic edition of this new encyclopedia, which is essential for the spirituality of people, is to reduce the impact of negative phenomena related to the Islamic religion, Muslim culture as a whole, and aspects of people's spiritual and educational heritage related to religion; to recognize the contributions of great scholars from local people to the development of Islamic sciences; It consists of providing objective scientific and analytical information about the religion of Islam, its history, teachings, and its influence on socio-political, cultural, and spiritual processes in various periods; forming a strong immunity against the activities of fanatical, fundamentalist, and extremist groups that distort the essence of the Islamic faith and their claims; preventing threats emanating from these radical movements; assisting in raising the spiritual and educational level of our people, especially the youth.

Given the immense spiritual and educational significance of the topic, it is planned to publish the encyclopedia first in English, French, Arabic, and Russian, and then, if possible, in translation into other languages.
