Tolerance in Religious Teachings
In accordance with United Nations General Assembly Resolution A/RES/65/5 of October 20, 2010, the first week of February is annually proclaimed as “World Interfaith Harmony Week,” and per Resolution 75/200 of December 21, 2020, February 4 is designated as the “International Day of Human Fraternity”.
In observance of these resolutions, the UNESCO Chair in Comparative Studies of World Religions at the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan is conducting a week of scientific, cultural-educational, and sports events from February 4 to 8 under the theme: “Human Fraternity and Interfaith Dialogue – A Factor of International Solidarity”.
As part of this week, on February 5, a student scientific and practical conference titled “Tolerance in Religious Teachings” was held at the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan. The conference featured participation from students of the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan, the Imam Bukhari Tashkent Islamic Institute, and the Tashkent Orthodox Seminary.
During their presentations, students discussed pressing topics such as the reflection of interfaith tolerance ideas in religious teachings, religious and educational foundations for preventing radicalism among youth, and the role of religious organizations in maintaining tolerance and human fraternity.
The conference saw the participation of over 50 students.
