Interfaith Friendship Journey

A Guided Excursion: Interfaith Friendship Journey February 6, 2025 Tashkent, Uzbekistan. 

As part of The World Interfaith Harmony Week, the UNESCO Chair in Comparative Study of World Religions at the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan will host a guided excursion titled "Interfaith Friendship Journey" on February 6, 2025. 

This immersive learning experience will take students to key religious institutions in Tashkent, including the Russian Orthodox Church, the Roman Catholic Church, and other religious centers, offering firsthand insights into Uzbekistan’s rich spiritual and religious diversity. 

Purpose of the Excursion: 

Foster understanding and mutual respect among students of different faiths; 

Showcase Uzbekistan’s legacy of religious tolerance and interfaith harmony; 

Educate participants on the beliefs, customs, and histories of various religious communities;

Encourage interfaith dialogue and build bridges of cooperation among youth. 

Structure of the Journey: 

Visits to Religious Sites – Expert-guided tours exploring history, architecture, and spiritual significance;

Interfaith Discussions – Dialogue sessions with religious leaders and community members; 

Reflective Sessions – Group discussions to deepen understanding of interfaith harmony. 

This event emphasizes openness, respect, and inclusivity, providing a unique opportunity to engage with diverse religious traditions. By learning directly from different faith communities, students will gain a deeper appreciation for Uzbekistan’s cultural and spiritual diversity. 

The Interfaith Friendship Journey aligns with the mission of The World Interfaith Harmony Week, promoting education, dialogue, and peace-building among people of all beliefs. It also highlights the role of youth in fostering interfaith understanding and unity.
