“You Are Not Orphaned”

Theatrical Performance “You Are Not Orphaned” – A Tribute to Compassion and Unity February 4, 2025 

International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan As part of The World Interfaith Harmony Week, the UNESCO Chair in Comparative Study of World Religions at the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan is proud to present a theatrical performance on February 4, titled: “You Are Not Orphaned”.

Inspired by Rahmat Fayzi’s novel and the acclaimed 1962 Uzbek film, this moving production tells the true story of Shomahmud Shoahmedov and Baxri Akramova, a Tashkent couple who, during World War II, opened their home and hearts to 14 orphaned children of diverse nationalities and faiths. Their extraordinary act of kindness symbolizes Uzbekistan’s deep-rooted culture of compassion, inclusivity, and unity. 

Event Objectives:

Inspire Audiences – Deliver powerful messages of humanity and mutual support. 

Foster Creativity – Provide students with a platform for artistic expression through theater. Held at the auditorium of the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan, the performance will feature immersive storytelling, vibrant costumes, and compelling stage design, creating a captivating experience for all attendees.
