Nicholas Kontovas, representative of the Bodleian Library: "Rare manuscripts about Uzbekistan are a priceless treasure of humanity"
Representatives of the delegation of Uzbekistan visited the Bodleian Library in Oxford, one of the oldest libraries in the world, where they got acquainted with rare manuscripts related to Uzbekistan.
"Uzbekistan is a land of great scholars, poets and thinkers," says Nicholas Kontovas, curator of the Oriental Manuscripts Department of the Bodleian Library. - In particular, the manuscripts of Hazrat Alisher Navoi, copied during his lifetime, are among the rare jewels of our library. Such priceless works can easily be called the priceless treasure of all mankind.
In the library, Uzbek scientists got acquainted with more than ten manuscripts related to the cultural heritage of Uzbekistan. Especially Alisher Navoi's personal signature "Khamsa" manuscript left a great impression. Mirzo Ulugbek's work "Zizhi Koragony" also has its own history. It was bought by Oxford scholar John Geeves almost three centuries ago and he made gilt notes on the book's border. Inscriptions in the Ottoman Turkish language are also found on the pages of the book.
The visit of the scientific delegation of Uzbekistan to Great Britain continues.
