The delegation of International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan (IIAU) headed by the IIAU Rector Shukhrat Yovkochev visited Istanbul University on Monday.
The aim of the visit is to get acquainted with Turkey’s religious education system and organize exchange programmes for training imam-hatips.
During the visit, the Cooperation Memorandum was signed on the partnerships and projects between Istanbul University and the International Islamic Academy of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The Memorandum aims to provide mutual benefit for the education and research activities of the University of Istanbul and the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan.
Earlier, the Rector of the IIAU Shukhrat Yovkochev signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Research Center for Islamic History, Art and Culture (IRCICA).
The delegation of IIAU also held a meeting with the leadership of Suleymaniye Library, which is one of the world’s most extensive collections of Islamic manuscripts, in Istanbul. And, an agreement was signed with the leadership of the Sulaymaniye Library to cooperate in the creation of a catalogue of manuscripts of the Movarounnahr scholars.
A delegation of the Academy planned to visit a number of leading universities in Turkey.
